What People Say About Us
Peri is awesome. He is extremely responsive and did an excellent job on our bathroom renovation. I recommend going with him and I will be using him for all our plumbing needs in the future.
The service was great. I called Peri from Proto Home Service Plumbing for a clogged kitchen sink. After inspecting some pipe connectors/drainage, he realized that some connections were wrong. He took the time to explain everything in detail that needed to be changed. I followed his recommendations and I'm very happy with the results. Peri is very professional with many years of experience. Highly recommend!!
Peri was amazing! He was super informative and gave me an estimate right off the bat. The service was fast and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely be using Proto Home Service again!
Clean, professional work. They were quick to respond and took the time to explain the new tank’s operation. We had an oil hot water tank replaced (which most plumbers can't/won't do). Great work. Thank you.
I recently had Peri from Proto Home Service Plumbing handle all the plumbing work for my bathroom renovation, and I couldn't be more impressed! He installed a brand new walk-in shower, infinity drain, toilet, and faucet with absolute precision and care. What stood out most was the excellent quality of his work combined with his professional attitude and very reasonable rates. Throughout the entire project, Peri demonstrated exceptional skill and attention to detail...
Our water heater gave out unexpectedly. Peri and his team were there in less than 18 hours to replace it. He is very responsive and he will always be my first call when anything plumbing or heating needs attention.
These guys are AMAZING. If you’re looking for someone who is both knowledgeable and super-responsive, these are your guys. They have dealt with some super janky plumbing for me in a couple of old buildings and they did a phenomenal job. Trustworthy and reasonably priced. Hard combination to beat.

Choose Proto Home Service for HVAC & Plumbing Services in Westwood, MA
Westwood didn’t become its own town until 1897, when it split off from Dedham — and the split had a lot to do with water. West Dedham wanted its own supply, Dedham wasn’t willing to pay to pipe it in, and once the dispute settled, Westwood became a town in its own right. That history still shows up today: Westwood and Dedham share a water district that runs on local wells rather than Boston’s system. Proto Home Service has worked on homes across Westwood, from Islington to University Station, with more than 40 years of experience.
Furnace, boiler, AC, heat pump, plumbing, water heater — whatever the system, the process is the same: a technician looks at the equipment, walks you through what’s actually happening, and lays out the options before anything gets scheduled.
Call (617) 842-9104 to set up service for your Westwood home, or reach us any hour for a heating, cooling, plumbing, or water heater emergency.

HVAC Service That Keeps Westwood Homes Running Smoothly
Between Westwood’s older homes near Islington and the newer construction going up around University Station, the HVAC equipment we run into varies a lot from one house to the next. Proto Home Service works on furnaces, boilers, central air conditioners, and heat pumps throughout Westwood, regardless of the vintage.
A system that’s overdue for maintenance and one that’s actively failing call for different urgency, not different attention — we look at the equipment, explain what we find, and only then talk about next steps.
A heating system down in the middle of winter isn’t something that should wait its turn. 24/7 emergency heating service is available in Westwood.

Furnace Repair & Replacement for Westwood Homes
Furnaces tend to give notice before they quit outright — a longer run, a new rattle, heat that falls behind what the thermostat is asking for. We work on gas and oil-fired furnaces alike, and our active Massachusetts Oil Burner license covers the systems still running in some of Westwood’s older homes.
• Furnace Repair & Maintenance
• Furnace Installation & Replacement
A furnace that’s still in decent shape usually just needs the right repair — our post on furnace troubleshooting covers what’s worth watching for. One that’s past that point gets sized and replaced properly rather than swapped for whatever’s on the truck.
Our HVAC Plan Membership ($44/month or $479/year) covers seasonal maintenance and priority scheduling.

Boiler Service for Dependable Heat in Westwood
A boiler doesn’t have to stop heating to be worth a second look — pressure that drifts, a radiator running cooler than the rest of the house, a new sound from the mechanical room are all early signs. The same Oil Burner license that covers our furnace work applies to boilers, oil or gas.
• Boiler Repair & Maintenance
• Boiler Installation & Replacement
Hydronic heat is still common in Westwood’s older homes, particularly closer to Islington, and we service that original equipment about as often as anything installed in the last few years. When the numbers stop making sense for another repair, we’ll size the replacement to the house instead of the catalog.

Air Conditioning Repair & Service in Westwood
AC trouble in Westwood is usually gradual — a system that used to keep the whole house even now leaves a room or two behind. We’re EPA-registered for refrigerant handling, which any repair or replacement touching refrigerant requires.
• Air Conditioning Repair
• Air Conditioning Maintenance
• Air Conditioning Installation & Replacement
We look at the equipment first and tell you what we find before talking about replacement — our annual cooling service post covers what that actually catches.
If the AC goes out during a heat wave, 24/7 emergency cooling service is available in Westwood.
— Heating + Cooling in One —
Heat Pump Service for Year-Round Comfort in Westwood
A heat pump in Westwood covers more of the calendar than a furnace or AC alone would — cooling through summer, heating through winter, and the shoulder seasons besides. Proto Home Service installs and services heat pumps and ductless mini-splits throughout Westwood.
• Heat Pump Repair
• Heat Pump Maintenance
• Heat Pump Installation & Replacement
Westwood is served by Eversource, so the standard Mass Save incentives apply here, and we’re a recognized Mass Save Heat Pump Installer — worth asking about when you’re pricing out an installation.
If you’re considering a heat pump for the first time, we start with the home’s existing setup and actual comfort needs rather than a standard package.

Plumbing Service for Problems Big & Small in Westwood
Westwood’s water doesn’t come from Boston’s system the way it does in a lot of nearby towns — Westwood shares the Dedham-Westwood Water District with Dedham, drawing from a network of local wells rather than the MWRA. It’s part of why Westwood split off from Dedham in the first place, back in 1897. For plumbing purposes, it means pressure and supply questions get looked at with that local system in mind.

Water Heater Repair, Replacement & Installation in Westwood
A water heater doesn’t usually fail all at once — more often it’s hot water that doesn’t last as long as it used to, or a longer wait between uses. We check the actual unit, tank or tankless, before talking about what’s next.
• Water Heater Repair
• Water Heater Maintenance
• Water Heater Installation & Replacement

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Have questions about our Plumbing & HVAC services? We’ve answered the most common ones below to help you feel confident before you book.
All of Westwood, including Islington and University Station.
Yes. Westwood shares the Dedham-Westwood Water District with Dedham, drawing from local wells rather than Boston’s MWRA system. It’s actually part of why Westwood became its own town back in 1897.
Not for us. Homes near Islington’s historic village center often still have original pipe, older hydronic heat, and wiring that predates modern HVAC standards, and we work with that as often as we work with the newer construction near University Station.
Depends on the day, but often yes. Call in the morning for the best chance of getting on the schedule same-day.
Yes, any hour. A failed heating system or a burst pipe doesn’t check the clock, and neither do we.
We do. Our Massachusetts Oil Burner license lets us service oil-fired furnaces and boilers with the same team that handles gas systems and plumbing.
We look at age, how often it’s needed repair, and what it’s costing to run, then tell you honestly which way the numbers point — no default push toward replacement.
Yes, both tank and tankless. We’re a certified Navien Service Specialist if you’re looking at a tankless upgrade specifically.
